Abdominal diastasis, what is it and what are the symptoms
Abdominal diastasis is a problem that can affect some women in the postpartum phase. Often still considered just a cosmetic problem, abdominal diastasis actually involves a number of very uncomfortable symptoms.
When we speak of abdominal diastasis, we are referring to an enlargement and excessive separation of the central rectus abdominis muscles. The consequences of this vary depending on whether the two muscles are separated to a greater or lesser extent.
The reason why the problem occurs is mainly related to pregnancy, particularly if it is twins. However, it can also develop in men, both in cases of obesity and in cases of major weight loss. (Source: grupposandonato.it)

Why the problem occurs
The reason why the problem occurs is mainly related to pregnancy, particularly if it is twin. However, it can also develop in men, both in cases of obesity and in cases of major weight loss.
Because the main cause is pregnancy
The reason why abdominal diastasis can occur after childbirth is because the weight and internal pressure due to the baby's growth, together with hormonal changes, can promote stretching of the rectus abdominis muscles and the consequent thinning of the connective tissues, eventually leading to the separation of the two rectus abdominis muscles.
The main symptoms
The main symptoms of abdominal diastasis can be incontinence, abdominal pain, back pain, bloating, and difficulty digesting.
Possible functional consequences
In addition to aesthetic consequences, abdominal diastasis also entails functional effects such as the inability to have a flat stomach, loss of the waist and the appearance of a longitudinal indentation along the abdomen.
